September Astrology

Sept 1—Moon/Neptune in Pisces opposition Pallas/Mercury Rx in Virgo & Mars in Libra

The theme this month is, “But how?”. How do you do all the things that were revealed to you under the light of that Pisces moon? How do you make the changes? How do you create the new system? How?

I don’t know. And neither will you. That’s the power and the surprise that shows up as we come off of the Pisces full moon into this perplexing opposition. Pallas and mercury are thinkers; They want to know how to sort things into the proper places so that they can be acted upon in a decently smart fashion. In Virgo, the attention to detail becomes quasi-obsessive. You can see a lot of things lining up, but you just can’t quite get them to click together. Some of that is the result of a Libra Mars conjunction that really needs everyone to be on the same page before action feels comfortable enough to take.

But how often does that happen? Not often enough to make Pallas and Mercury feel like they can get any traction. With the additional energy of a Moon and Neptune working in harmony in Pisces, part of you—the soft emotional part of you-- can’t be bothered with all that Virgo fussiness. You don’t want to deal with “getting traction”. You’d rather just feel your way along and do what needs to be done when it needs to be done. So this creates some internal conflict.

Is it massive conflict? No. But it does have the potential to keep you up at night as your head feverishly lays plans and plots courses that fail to materialize when the moment to act comes and goes, or someone—anyone--dares to offer a conflicting option. So be easy on yourself. Maybe just write all that shit down and wait until the energy is hot. That sure as fuck isn’t now.

Sept 1-13th—Vesta/Sedna in Gemini trine South Node Rx/Ceres in Libra

This theme of conflict takes may different hues this month. There is that natural conflict of head and heart that gets fuel from Pisces and Virgo hums along for a good chunk of the month. But this more subtle internal conflict really makes impact for the next two weeks as it lines up and starts to make sense.

You may not have realized the chafe that is gathering when it comes to how you value/express your independence versus the commitments you have made to loved ones. This isn’t to say that you are slowly generating resentment, although for some of you that may be the case. This energy is more mental as you try to sort out what freedom means to you inside the context of the relationships that feed you. We tend to think of them as being in opposition, when in fact they have the potential to complete you.

Think about how you can maintain your independence, freedom and self-actualization as you give, share and gather loving energy with those you surround yourself with. If they are out of balance, these next two weeks are an opportunity to bring them back into line. If they feel balanced and healthy, then take the time to bring that awareness up into the front of your mind and your life. Our relationships define so much of our experience, and this is a great time to really connect with their weft and weave.

Sept 3 — Venus goes direct in Leo

Take a deep breath y’all and pat yourselves on the back. Venus retrogrades are really tough and for a lot of people they mark powerful endings. In Leo, you have had a chance to get right in your ego’s face, taking a good long swim in who you thought you were and coming to the other side with some new realities around that. Positive, negative or neutral, there is no escaping the parts of you that have risen to the surface to be worked with.

Sit with those pieces for a while; you won’t be able to action them right away. Enjoy what you have found. Relish the release of the pressure. Touch the aspects of Venus the Morning Star in all of her grace--your grace. Just be here now and try to enjoy all the beautiful things in life.

Sept 4 — Mercury Rx in Virgo trine Jupiter in Taurus/Moon in Taurus

Jupiter retrogrades in Taurus

Again, the how of all this is not for now so let it simmer. A lot of information has come to you/ through you in the last few weeks. When that happens, when it releases, there is a tendency to try and get on with it, right? But we must remember that information is just information. It is neutral and we are not at all obligated to do anything with it. Furthermore, the concept of time is purely constructed. You don’t have to do anything right now. You don’t have to make changes right now. That is a sales tactic and we don’t measure evolution by a countdown clock.

This trine between Virgo and Taurus pushes that button a bit. The blessing is that both are naturally slow signs, preferring to get those ducks in a row before haring off into the change. Use it. Additionally, Mercury is still in retrograde, which naturally creates more reflection than impetus. So all of that is good; you can work with it.

Jupiter stations to retrograde here as well, in Taurus. This gives you until the end of the year to digest and integrate the information the guru planet brings you. In Taurus, these are issues revolving around stability, success and prosperity. The remaining quarter of this year is an amazing time to get right with yourself as they relate to these concepts. Again, do not worry about doing anything with it. Learn it for the sake of learning. Examine it for the sake of the examination. Be so present with the changes that are arriving for you that they become natural and inherent. There will be a time to put all of this to use.

Next year.

Sept 6 — Sun in Virgo conjunct Mercury Rx in Virgo

A powerful hit of Virgo gives you a push to day to get some things straight. What needs to get right will be wholly personal, and the drive to do so may feel pretty intense. I will advise you to lean into the exercise as an exercise—these structures you try to set up will have an inherent flaw somewhere within them. Somewhere, you will have missed a piece and need to go back and try again. So don’t attach. Whatever you sort out, be it your life or your closet, take the position that it can all be changed.

Nothing is permanent. So if we enjoy the process and not the result, we can reap the benefits of this Virgo punch in a much more productive and pleasant way.

Sept 10—Sedna/Vesta in Gemini trine South Node Rx/Ceres in Libra trine Saturn Rx in Pisces

The Sedna/Vesta and South Node/Ceres trine that we have been working with all month takes on the final piece of the triangle today. That last addition, a retrograde Pisces Saturn acts like a sharp jab to the heart, finally illuminating what you have been missing in your attempts to balance out your sense of personal freedom inside your relationships.

Pisces Saturn—and especially a retrograde one—tends to rip off any rose coloured glasses we have been wearing. It allows you to see what has been standing in your way, and then offers you insights into how to clear that. Be it a person, a place or a habit, Saturn doesn’t allow you to close your eyes and drift away into pretend land. In Pisces, he does soften, showing you ways in which this block doesn’t serve your soul.

Be prepared for revelations that rock your soul and inspire you to take that left turn to Albuquerque. Pivot. Flex. Roll with it and see what new insights arrive.

Sept 12—Moon/Juno/Venus in Leo square Uranus Rx/Jupiter Rx in Taurus

So what happens if you blow shit up? What happens if you tear it all down? What happens if you put yourself first and don’t let anybody get in your way, not even your lover, your children, your family? What happens?

You may think you know, but you don’t. Today these thoughts may rise up to be examined, don’t just shove them down and pretend that everything is fine. Take that intellectual exercise and sort through what comes up when you follow these questions or thoughts to the next logical set. Again, this isn’t do energy. This is thought energy. You are taking all of the things that have risen up in you and applying them to a possibility set. It doesn’t have to be a probability set. But it does all need to be examined so that you can see your options through the cold lens.

There is information here that has been hidden in your heart. Bring it out into the light while the energy is right.

Sept 14 — Pallas enters Libra

Vesta enters Cancer

A couple of good things happen here. The first half of this month has supported a very tender type of selfishness. You have been feeling encouraged to look after your own needs, set your own standards, and chart your own course. There has been a vast amount of energy supporting you in making personal, internal transitions and transformations. We have needed that, right? And the process is so valuable to healthy self-development.

But right here we get the reminder that we don’t live in a vacuum and the self is only truly understood in relation to other. That other can be highly intimate, or large and impersonal. But through the nature of duality, we constantly bounce ideas of self off of the “other” and this is how we evolve. It truly is a fine balancing act.

Today, Pallas shifts into Libra, bringing your inner compass into alignment with this concept. You will start to integrate all of the selfish you into an intellectual framework that includes those that are important “others” in your life. This is a great shot of perspective.

Additionally, Vesta enters Cancer, pushing your sense of commitment and sacred dedication out of the intellectual realm (Gemini) and into the heart realm (Cancer). Before, you could think about your duty with a bit of mental detachment which created its own lens. Now, you can take that information and bring it into the heart to enrich the information and round it out. What you care about may change, how you think about it certainly will.

Sept 14 — New moon in Virgo trine Jupiter Rx in Taurus

This is a great moon to sit with those lessons and make a list of where and how you want to see yourself as you move forward. The energy of Virgo is crisp and organized while the energy of the New Moon is that of starting over. This combination is a potent cap to the rising up of information that has been a part of your reality over the last several weeks.

For those of you that like to journal, this is the lunar ritual of your dreams. Seed yourself with the question of “how?” and get into your spiritual space. Set up your sacred, protective space. Invite in your personal guides and masters. Set a timer for 15 minutes and don’t worry about structure, punctuation or even continuity. Put the pen to the paper and open your mind to the wisdom of your soul. Let everything flow out of you without censor and you should see a path for yourself emerge.

Remember, the higher self always knows, which means that you also always know. Sometimes we just need to get our heads out of the way. This is that opportunity to get your hands and your head around next steps as perceived by your soul.

Sept 15 — Mercury goes direct in Virgo

Sun/Moon in Virgo opposition Neptune Rx in Pisces

This day brings that forward action that you have been craving. Mercury goes direct in its home sign, making everything suddenly clear. The Sun and the Moon conjunct in the same sign, bringing your ego and your heart into alignment. So we see a solid connection between self, mind and heart all in the tidy sign of Virgo. So this is energy that indicates you are all systems go.

So go.

Do just be aware of pockets of resistance where you may not be seeing something clearly. Take a second look if you feel that something isn’t right. Don’t worry, that extra second of clarity can’t slow you down now.

Sept 16 — Ceres enters Scorpio

And welcome to the astrology cha cha. Two steps forward, one step back.

Ceres indicates where we nurture and how we receive nurturing. She dictates our relationship with the earth and all the connections to the earth that we consciously or subconsciously enjoy. This means nature, food, family, etc. If it provides and it deals with the element of earth, then it is ruled by Ceres.

Scorpio is the most intense of the signs and one that goes all in all the time. So together these two can create a lot of big, big situations. What has been coming up for you in recent weeks will dictate where this Ceres energy lands hardest. Issues around relationship/familial imbalances? Scorpio Ceres will sort that shit OUT. Issues with food and body? Money? Security? Value? Scorpio Ceres will push you to transform it. There is a deep sensuality to this nurturing placement, so all things of the senses/ earth body will be amplified.

The goal is for you to learn how to experience this intensity as a method of nurturing and not a method of destruction. You may try to balance out your relationship by balancing out the sexual give/take. You may try to take care of your body through a more nourishing relationship with food and physicality. You may try to bring the concept of money more comfortably into your life so that it feels supportive and not restrictive. Scorpio asks us to change deeply. Ceres asks us to make those changes in accordance with that which most nourishes us.

This is a powerful alignment, but it isn’t an easy one. Keep your head in the game and don’t let this flip on you. You’ll be working with this just until late November.

Sept 23 — Sun enters Libra/ Autumnal Equinox

I have a Libra moon and my mother is a Libra, so Libra season always feels soft and comfortable for me. It is when the fire of summer dies back to a warming flame that encourages you to sit back, settle in and enjoy what the summer has brought you. The time for work work work is passing and now we start to prepare for the death cycle of winter that is an absolute must for the regeneration of spring. Libra season allows you to take stock of what you have and what you still need in order to fully experience the wheel of life with an equanimous mind.

Additionally, Libra season is a time to connect with your relationships and treat them to a healthy fall pruning. Cut back things that don’t enrich your partnerships. Fertilize love with time and thoughtfulness. Plant seeds of intention that will carry you through the next cycle. This equinox is a poised moment of absolute balance, showing us how to bring that same energy into all of our commitments so that we can all thrive together.

Sept 27—Saturn Rx in Pisces trine Vesta in Cancer trine Ceres in Scorpio

So. How do you profoundly nourish your earth self, while at the same time dedicating yourself to your heart, while at the same time plotting a dedicated course towards your soul purpose?

Beats me, but we are all going to find out. My guess is that the answer is in the New Moon ritual you sat down with. Go back and review.

Sep 29 — Full moon in Aries

This moon is fiery and it wants everything to happen NOW. You want what you want and you do not want to have to wait for something to happen which can make today seem like one emergency after the other. Resist the urge to pivot and pivot and pivot until you get what you “want”. You might find out it isn’t what you wanted at all. So the warning is to take a deep breath and make sure that you are centered in your correct desires—the ones you have carefully sorted out using the powerful intellectual energy from earlier this month.

If is shows up today alone, it might just be a craving and best left to wilt.

Additionally, an Aries Moon has a busted filter, which I suppose can be good or bad depending on your natural orientation. Aries do what they want, they say what they want and they go on about their business regardless of what others may think of it. If you generally don’t do this, this moon could be a great asset for you to stand up for what you deserve. If you always do this, then you may want to be aware of when your mouth starts writing cheques that your ass does NOT want to cash.

As a Full Moon, there is a lot of power for you to see that which has not been clear to you. Using the powerful fire of Aries, this full moon can help you to state your cause, put your foot to the gas and get going on whatever it is you have been pondering all month long. For a lot of people that is going to be such a release—like an orgasm of purpose lol. For others it is going to be too much gas on an already burning log. Take stock before forging full speed ahead and make sure you know where you are going, why you are going there, how you are getting there and what you hope to arrive to. Just a little bit of pre-planning can take you miles.

For the ritual, this would be a very good fire ritual night where you utilise the fire element to purify and clarify your intentions.
