February Astrology

February 1 — T-square Moon in Libra, Mercury/Mars in Capricorn, North Node in Aries

T-square Moon/South Node in Libra, Mars in Capricorn, Chiron in Aries

Well, well, kitty cats, this month starts off with a bang now, doesn’t it?

This is a double T-square layered over a feisty conjunction that sparks a lot of internal—and possibly external—conflicts. Your heart and mind are at odds. Your heart and your healing are in conflict. And as some extra spice, we get to layer in a fun dose of karma to the mix. And your instinctive solve to this is to be a determined dick. Its going to be a bumpy day, y’all so just stay focused.

The key to getting through this is to take the buddha mind to heart. Nothing is permanent, and these feelings of conflict between what you want for yourself and what you feel you should want for others will pass. Get one-pointed and tackle these feelings with quiet, unattached logic. This process will help you get through the emotion to come to the core of the karma/dharma conflict.

Just don’t be an asshole about it.

February 3—Juno Rx in Virgo trine Venus/Mars in Capricorn

February 3-February 13-- Grand Earth Trine Juno in Virgo, Venus in Capricorn, Uranus is Taurus

This is a trine, so the energy is harmonious. What’s interesting is that the nature of the alliance is not harmonious at all.

Remember, we have been dealing with Juno in Virgo for a while now, causing us to be more critical of those we partner with. When she teams up with the planet and love and the planet of sex in harsh Capricorn mode, you may find that your partners just can’t do anything right. You may want to try and fix that through structure, or dominance and that’s not going to come off terribly nice.

So take all of that Juno/ Venus energy and toss in Uranus in Taurus. These three planets are in a grand earth trine, creating a sense of immobility and unwillingness to yield. In many ways Grand Trines are very auspicious. They organize, empower and stabilize. But the beneficence or maleficence of the trine is wholly dependent on the planets, houses and aspects.

This is not an awesome trine, and for the next ten days you are going to have to really check yourself to see where you are coming from. Juno here is a nitpicker in the community house. Venus is an image keeper in the communication house. Uranus is a disruptor in the relationship house. With all of this rolling around and bouncing off of each other, you have to ask yourself if you are in authenticity when it comes to your relationships.

Are you being overly critical of your friends, family and lovers? Are you subconsciously sabotaging your most intimate relationships? Are you so concerned with how things look that you aren’t loving in the way you want?

This is an opportunity to get real with yourself and come to an understanding of how you behave when you are at your worst. It is also a chance to figure out how to flip these aspects to their most positive. How can you provide healthy feedback to your loved ones? How can you restructure your intimate relationships to build a better foundation? How can you provide reliable connection to your partners so that they can be their best selves?

This trine is a double edged sword. How it plays out is wholly dependent on how you play it out.

February 6 — Mercury enters Aquarius

Mercury in Aquarius conjunct Pluto in Aquarius

The planet of communication shifts from hardcore Capricorn to more independent and forward thinking Aquarius, making us more eager to connect with our community. It changes the tone of how we interact with our people, so you may find yourself involved in a lot of conversations around solving problems, changing the system and creating a more egalitarian paradigm.

Lots of this will probably be done online, and there is the danger of feeling more connected to our “social” community than we actually are. This conjunction to Pluto asks you to keep your eyes open for where things (or people) aren’t as they seem. You will be better able to sense lies, and also where others are lying to themselves. Pluto sees below the surface and actively seeks to break down things that get in the way of growth. In Aquarius, this is much more pronounced.

What this means on a collective level is that we will probably see some shit brought up to the surface for us all to break down as a culture. On a personal level, you must be aware that you have the capacity to blow shit right on up out of the water in the name of making it ‘better’. Does it need to break down? Yes. Will it be better after? Yes. Is it going to be fun? Fuck no.

Fortify. This is the beginning of a cascading series of shifts, all of which will ask you to grow, change and elevate.

February 7 — Pallas enters Sagittarius

The asteroid of logic, problem solving and higher thinking enters the sign of philosophy, learning and higher thinking. This is a great and natural alignment, which allows you to expand your mind and find new points of view.

When we look at this in the continuum of the month, we can see that this is a growing time of moving forward. So whatever you need to learn to do that, learn. Whatever you need to cull, cull. Your reach is extended now and will only continue to get longer. When you access this Pallas, you have a greater ability to think outside your box to inspire yourself to take chances that serve your greater good.

February 8 — Ceres enters Capricorn

Vesta goes direct in Gemini

Sun in Aquarius square Uranus in Taurus

To add to the growth mindset of Pallas in Sagittarius, we get the shift of Ceres into Capricorn. Ceres is the Earth Mother moving into a stable Earth Sign. This is a great aspect to help you get into connection with the cycles and seasons of your life. It will help you to know when is just the right time to plant those seeds, determine how long they need to come to health and respect the process. Whatever you have been dreaming about, this is the energy to get it planned out and started. Gently.

Compounding that energy is the direct movement of Vesta in Gemini. She has been wallowing in the mind for a bit, making action unclear. You just couldn’t quite put your finger on what it was that would bring you the most fulfillment. Purpose and meaning may have felt elusive. Just know that those days are behind you (for the time being), so you can easily determine what is your personal North Star. Stay humble. Stay in meditative mind about it. Get clear and listen, listen, listen to all the information that comes to you when you get this quiet.

This is a great exercise to hone your inner wisdom. The square of the Sun and Uranus will spike your inner rebel and your inner impatience with the Way Things Are. You can get loud and tilt at windmills, or you can get quiet and listen, listen, listen to that wise inner compass that knows where to aim the arrow of your intent to achieve maximum effect.

February 9 — New moon in Aquarius

We often work our rituals for personal reasons. We align to the cycles of the moon and use them to help us create or destroy trends in our personal lives. It isn’t often that we craft or work ritual for the collective. I mean, that shit is pretty presumptive, right?

But this moon is a bit different. It is the head of the New Year and it is bumped up against all kinds of Aquarian energy that is asking—repeatedly—for us to come together as a collective and make changes that serve all of us equally.

The Aquarian tendency to be humanitarian shows up powerfully when filtered through the Moon. It creates an intuitve concern for others on a grand scale. This aspect is extremely observant; it creates a very broad and high conception of human nature that helps us to understand (with compassion) why people do what they do. This moon creates both understanding and knowing.

The trick here is that this comes free of sticky emotion. It shows up as an idea that is cool-headed, detached, and “above” the baser emotions. There is real clarity and cool headed vision. In may ways, this Moon is one that allows us to solve complex human problems without the quagmire of really empathizing with the situation.

As a new Moon, this is the beginning of a cycle. As the head of the New Year, this is the beginning of a cycle. Let this ritual be that. Sit and solve these complex human social quagmires and envision solutions that allow us all to be healthy, happy, holy and free in the ways that feel best and sacred to each individual. These solutions must hold independence and freedom of self at their very core as sacred human rights. Then, you can ritual to seed these wishes into the collective field for the good of us all.

February 10 — Lunar New Year/Year of the Wood Dragon

I’m not an expert in Chinese Astrology by a long shot. But its worth doing a little research, right?

This year is the year of the Wood Dragon, which is reported to be an auspicious year, linked to creativity, charm and confidence. It brings opportunities, changes and healthy challenges that force you to open your mind and your eyes. You will be inspired to seek out ways to stand out and get noticed in the arenas in which you wish to grow, and the dragon energy is something you can use to shine.

There is a lot of flexibility to the Wood Dragon year, which helps you to bend and flow with the changes you bring about in your life. The only caution is to remain flexible and focused on balance, so that you avoid hasty decisions based on ego and false desires.

The Dragon holds a significant place as an auspicious and extraordinary creature of immense talents and nobility. You can lean into it for power, honour, luck and success. So good luck, you Dragon you. Rock it!

Feb 12—Moon in Pisces conjunct Neptune in Pisces

Dude. Take the day off. Do not expect t o get any work done. You just don’t have the juice.

This is a great day to meditate or dedicate some time to your spiritual pursuits. The veil is quite open to you if you travel through your heart to touch your magic. Its there. Just sit with it and don’t work in it.

February 13 — Mars enters Aquarius

Mars in Aquarius conjunct Pluto in Aquarius

Aquarius doesn’t typically get too fired up, but the fire of Mars adds the passion that is normally lacking and encourages us to become the of champion our ideas and ideals. This orientation asks you to get smart and fight smart, saving your energy for battles that can be won. Don’t waste energy on fights that only result in emotionally fueled actions that ultimately get nowhere. This is high-level warfare with high-level goals.

This shift for Mars is the fuel that moves the thoughts you have been nursing since Mercury shifted signs earlier in the month. It puts the action to the motives laid down at the New Moon and the New year. This alignment provides clear sight to the end goal, along with visible steps to get you there. Truly, Aquarius Mars isn’t fucking around and it isn’t burdened with impatience, ego or social niceties.

When attached to that Revolutionary Pluto, we see a real potential to absolutely dissolve social rules or regulations. Aquarius is the original rebel and Mars is the original warrior. Traditional methods will feel stifling and you long to embrace a radical approach that allows you to move into a brand-new, totally different way of doing things. It’s all about liberation and growing into one’s own, bit by bit

Don’t be afraid to go your own way and blaze your own trail. The more individuals who do can change the whole course of the collective.

Feb 15-20—Grand Air Trine, South Node Rx in Libra, Mercury in Aquarius, Vesta in Gemini

Here is the flexibility and agility of mind we all need to flow with the changes everyone seems to be reaching for. Air signs are mysterious simply because they are so adaptable. So when we see this trine show up in the house of community, communication and transformation, we see an opportunity to flex and adapt in unique and innovative ways.

This South Node asks you to connect to how you put yourself aside for those you relate with and how you can bring that back into a more healthy balance. The Mercury asks you to detach from the feelings of obligation or shame that keep you small and solo so that you can be individual and free. The Vesta insists that you use your mind to change your experience,so that you can bring yourself into alignment with your own sacred commitments.

This air trine is a big gift in the middle of a month of high level change. Use it.

February 17 — Venus enters Aquarius

Venus in Aquarius conjunct Pluto in Aquarius

This is the shifting Venus. This is a Venus that leans in and then suddenly leans away; It is there and connected and then suddenly disappears. It turns towards something else. This Venus is inconsistent because it is vested in the New. Always the new.

This energy turns your eyes away from the building of the familiar and towards the vision of what can be. This is a placement that is inspired by creating a new way of living, believing that creation is something that we can all make together…. but on our own individual time. This creates an immense amount of patience when it comes to waiting for others to get on the bus. Its a helpful shift to see as we navigate a month of huge pushing energy.

You want change and you want it now. This Venus helps you to fall in love with the process, stopping to observe and appreciate all of the things that spring up as you navigate the course. These other things are interesting. New seeds to plant are neat. New ideas to birth are stimulating. New changes to implement as exciting. You don’t feel addicted to your course the way you may have when Mars first made its way into Aquarius.

When this Venus conjuncts Pluto we see all this flexibility and interest coming to the service of profound change. The process of getting rid of toxic situations or people don’t feel hard or sad. It’s interesting because they are leading to something new. This is a grace for the path you are projecting forward.

Go with grace.

February 18-19 — Sun enters Pisces

There is a big shift here in core energy that may feel odd after so many weeks of serious Aquarius thrust. But there is a rhythm here that functions as a gentle check in for you, ensuring that as you drive forward towards big human goals that you haven’t lost the soft human touch.

Pisces is a kind energy. It is extremely fluid and connected to the greater passive field of consciousness. This means that you may know more than you are able to articulate, and you may intuit more than you can explain. You may find stretches of time where you can’t explain yourself well, sometimes because your ideas are too big for the words you have and sometimes because you can’t be fucked to deal with it.

If you can settle into this, you will find great inspiration in free wheeling brainstorming which can lead to lots of new and out-of-the-box ideas. When you embrace the dual methods of both Pisces and Aquarius, you may find it easier to shake things up, creating ripples around you that inspire others to take up the charge. This Pisces gentleness softens self-expression and open-mindedness that the Aquarian times demand.

It bears mentioning that this placement is generally resistant to following schedules and often has unusual ways of integrating information. So things will probably take more time than you imagine, and at times be more confusing. These next four weeks are an opportunity to settle in, settle down, check in and make sure that your ideas are in tune with your greater consciousness.

February 24 — Mercury enters Pisces

Mercury joins the Sun in gentling the fire of the mind that dominated the previous weeks. This is an opportunity to speak softer, and to get more connected to your intuition and imagination. Take the time to touch base with your dreams to make sure that you are on the authentic course. You will find that you have a boost to your creative energy, which is great. Use it to design the next phase of your growth.

Just be certain to come back to the world and not to dwell in the astral space of possibility. Pisces can get lost and with the planet of the mind dwelling here for three weeks, there is great opportunity to access the higher realms.

Just don’t forget to come back.

February 25 — Full moon in Virgo

Moon in Virgo conjunct Juno Rx in Virgo opposition Hygiea/Saturn in Pisces

This full moon is out of sync with the prevailing energy of the time. We are working through a shift towards the soft so that we can integrate the high mental air of the last few weeks. Ideals are all well and good, but if we lose the human we lose the point. This is the gift of Pisces for us now.

The full moon in Virgo is disciplined, organized and more than a little tight. It has great qualities that help everyone get a grip on how all of this is supposed to go down. This is list energy. This is cleaning energy. This is preparing energy. Which is all great and has its place. If you feel like you have a handle on your course, this is the night to sit down with a notebook and draw out that map. But if you feel a little overwhelmed by it all, this is the night to let it be lest you fall into the trap.

This trap is the nit-picky Juno that is dishing out no small dose of martyr energy. This trap is Juno and the Moon standing off against a Pisces Saturn conjunct to a Pisces Hygiea. So your ability to plan and organize—Saturn’s absolute specialty—is hung up somewhat. Pisces Saturn is a force in the astral; that fucker sees it ALL. But it isn’t great at pulling it out of the ether and landing it down on practical earth.

One would think that this Virgo Moon would solve all that, and yet it isn’t quite behaving that way. It feels more like it is pointing fingers at everything Saturn is failing at, and that’s just no help. It never helps to beat yourself up for all the ways you didn’t quite get it done. So maybe take a page from Pisces Hygiea and go tend to your spiritual health.

Take a yoga class. Meditate. Go to the Sauna. Do something healthful and nice for yourself.

February 28 — Sun in Pisces conjunct Mercury/Saturn in Pisces

It’s easy for our thoughts to get carried away today. You can get lost in your head, traveling down the road of with what ifs and if onlys. Don’t get so lost in your thoughts that you start to spiral. Put it down and have a snack. Eat this cookie and by the time you leave it will all start to feel okay…..
